Love Krillion? Play Rarest Answer, Minigamely’s free original trivia game: name the rarest correct country, US state or element you can think of — rarer answers score more. Unlimited rounds, no sign-up.
How to play Rarest Answer
- Read the prompt — for example “Name a country in Africa”, “Name a US state that starts with M” or “Name a noble gas”.
- Type one correct answer. Spelling help is built in: accents, capital letters and common alternative names (USA, Ivory Coast, Czech Republic, Burma, Turkey, aluminum, cesium…) all count, and one-letter typos in longer names are forgiven.
- Score by rarity. Every correct answer scores, but the rarer it is, the more points: up to 100 per prompt and 500 per round.
- Wrong guesses cost nothing — if an answer doesn’t fit, you can try again until the timer runs out. Skip a prompt if you’re stuck.
- Play again — every round draws 5 fresh prompts from 33, so there is no daily limit.
How rarity is scored
Rarity comes from public data, not from guesses: each correct answer is ranked against every other correct answer to the same prompt.
| Category | “Rarer” means | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Countries (193 UN member states) | Smaller population | World Bank, total population 2024 |
| US states (50) | Smaller population | US Census Bureau, 2020 Census |
| Chemical elements (92 with a measured crustal abundance) | Scarcer in Earth’s crust | CRC Handbook crustal abundance (ppm) |
| Tier | Where the answer ranks among the correct answers | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Most common 20% | 10 |
| Familiar | Next 25% | 30 |
| Uncommon | Next 25% | 60 |
| Rare | Next 20% | 85 |
| Legendary | Rarest 10% | 100 |
Tips for rare answers
- Think small: microstates and island nations (Tuvalu, Nauru, Palau, San Marino, Liechtenstein) top most country prompts.
- For US states, the least populated are Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska and the Dakotas.
- For elements, precious metals and the heavy noble gases are scarce in the crust; oxygen, silicon, aluminium and iron are the most common answers you can give.
- Transcontinental countries count for both continents — Russia, Türkiye and Kazakhstan for Europe and Asia, Egypt for Africa and Asia; Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Cyprus for Asia and Europe.
- Relaxed mode has no timer — handy for learning the map before going for a timed high score.
Rarest Answer vs Krillion
Krillion is a separate daily trivia game at krillion.io in which answers are scored by how rarely other players give them; it publishes one set of seven prompts per day. Rarest Answer is Minigamely’s own game, unrelated to Krillion: its prompts and scoring are original, rarity is measured from public statistics instead of other players’ answers, and you can play as many rounds as you like.
